When I originally had the idea to start up a website, I thought a great name would have to do with the pixels that make up the graphics on screen. Pixelation was my first choice, but that URL was taken, I started to think of different variances on the word pixels and finally pixelzz came to mind. I always get question on how I created the logo; I put timeless effort into developing a logo. I spent a lot of time trying to get something that I liked, that worked the best to reflect my style, and just by a very non deliberate attempt I overplayed a transparent freeform square of "pixels" over a very conformed box of "pixels". I took a look at it and found that it fit so well together. The combination of the conformed pixels and the freeform squares shows that creativity and conformation can co-exist and work together to create something great. From there the Pixelzz logo was born. I then decided that I should market my marketing skills, I could do "in-house" marketing for smaller businesses that couldn't take on an in house staff. My business was formed as a result of being let go from Lands' End, I decided that when I was let go as a result of a "business decision", that I would not let my misfortune get me down, but to make an opportunity out of the situation. It was a really hard blow for me, but I immediately bounced back. I was successful at creating an opportunity out of my situation. I wish that all persons that were in my same situation had the opportunities that I had made for myself. I have met so many people, who have become the greatest friends as a result of that business decision. I love creating things; I love to see my ideas turn into a finished product. I love web design, problem solving, art direction, and creative collaboration. I have this ability to take even the most dreadful situation and turn it into a learning experience. When people ask what do you like most about what I do, I have a hard time in telling them one specific thing because everything you do makes you so much stronger at those other qualities. If it is prepress/production, marketing, photography, graphic design, web design, brand identity… these things just make you so much better at the other things. I do a lot of photography, my camera goes almost everywhere with me. I do photo styling and propping also. I love to draw and paint, when I get a chance. I used to do a lot of flower arranging, but then I stopped doing it, it was all weddings - weddings become a real drag, but then what do I do? I started doing wedding invitations. I have these ideas in mind to start designing accessories and jewelry - yes, I have designed many pieces of jewelry. I also have found really old jewelry and fixed it up and made it something that can be fashionable today. Back to the accesories, has anyone seen my earth-friendly non-feather boa? Francie is displaying it finely in this photo: Yes, it is made out of recycled shopping bags. It was such a hit. I have even started working on a logo and identity for my accesories and jewelry, named after my dog - sneak peak on the logo:
