I earned two certificates this week—one in Creating an AI Assistant and one in Somatic Foundations. At first glance, they might seem unrelated—but to me, they represent a delicate balance that every creative professional faces.

Let’s start with AI.

I’ll be honest—I’ve had a hate-like relationship with artificial intelligence. As someone building a creative business, I’ve used AI to organize projects, assist with decisions, and streamline tasks. It’s a powerful tool—but not without its controversies.

I’ve even faced criticism for using AI. Many creatives fear that it threatens our work. But here’s the reality: AI is here and it is in everything. The question isn’t whether to use it—it’s how to use it responsibly. For me, that means:

  • Making intentional choices about when and where to use AI.
  • Staying ethical—ensuring my work remains authentic to my vision and voice and not a violation of someone else’s creativity.
  • Remembering that no matter how advanced AI becomes, it will never replicate the uniqueness of human creativity.

But here’s where things get interesting—while I’m learning to work with technology, I’m also investing in taking care of myself through Somatic practices.

For years, I’ve lived with chronic pain due to Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD). Somatic Foundations—a body-centered approach to wellness—has been a game-changer. These practices help me:

  • Manage pain, prevent flares and reduce injury.
  • Stay grounded in my body (especially when my work pulls me into a stress-induced state).
  • Prioritize self-care, knowing it enhances both my creativity, my innovative mind, my ability to get things done, and my ability to be a leader.

What I’ve learned is this: Efficiency and self-care are not opposites—they are partners. By allowing AI to handle repetitive tasks, I gain time and energy to focus on the things only I can do. When I prioritize my well-being, I’m more focused, innovative, and present in my work and more importantly in my life. With all that being said, mindset is a key to success.

As I continue to explore these two worlds, I’m curious—how do you navigate the intersection of technology and self-care? What strategies do you use to maintain balance? How do we balance the systemic approach of tech and taking care of ourselves in a world of constantly increasing demands?

I’d love to hear from you—feel free to share your thoughts!
